August 18th 2026: we won’t forget this date. The long-awaited Sickle Cell Clinic was officially opened. 15 years of work and effort went into it, and we are grateful to everyone who made it possible.

The clinic is part of SLBMC, but located at the old Holberton Compound. For now, the unit will be a day clinic, open Mondays to Fridays from 9 am to 5 pm. There are five single rooms with bed and bathroom, as well as a treatment room with recliners. Staff has been specifically trained and is dedicated, compassionate and looking out for our patients’ interest. Services will span treatment for acute pain crises, but also general disease management, prescriptions, referrals and seminars.
